Throughout the Lenten Season in the Orthodox Church, the Canon of Saint Andrew of Crete is sung. There are incremental portions sung during the weekly services. The whole focus of the Canon is on turning away from our sinfulness. The Canon looks into the total saturation of sin in our lives and tries to bring forth words of confession about all of the many sins we may commit throughout the course of our days. To some it may feel a bit heavy, but the Lenten Season is devoted to fasting from the sins in our lives, so it is helpful to have a list of things we do to offend God. It keeps us from being able to avoid certain illnesses in our spiritual lives. On the Fifth week of Great and Holy Lent, the service is sung in its entirety. That is the version I have included here.
Peace,
